Design

On the reverse side of the coin the design shows the hero of Fort Moultire, American Sergeant William Jasper, returning his regiment’s flag while under attack from a British war ship. America won this battle that was fought in 1776 at the start of the Revolutionary War.

Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie National Historical Park is located in coastal South Carolina. This park preserves Fort Sumter, Fourt Moultrie, and the Charleston Lighthouse.

These coins are part of the America the Beautiful quarters program.

The US minted different series of the Fort Moultrie quarter. There is the 2016 P quarter, 2016 D quarter, 2016 S quarter, 2016 S proof quarter and 2016 S silver proof quarter.
